Jason Siska Now: Q&A Interview, Sixteen Years After Survivor
In 2008, Jason Siska was a contestant on Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites (16th season). After Siska became known to millions of the show’s fans (every episode averaged 20 million viewers) he was like one of the heroes in an old Western film who walked out into the sunset after the job was done, never to be seen again.
Siska Didn’t Actually Disappear, He Went To Another Island
Siska might have disappeared from the red hot spotlight of one of the most watched television shows of all time, but the experience of being a contestant on Survivor stayed with him, and inspired his next moves.
2024 Interview With Jason Siska
Question: Remind fans how you first became inspired to be selected to be a contestant on the Survivor show.
Jason Siska’s Answer: “From that first episode I watched as a 15 year old boy to the time I was casted for the show (as a naive 22 year old young man), it had been an absolute dream of mine to be a contestant.”
What did you like about Survivor?
“Initially, some of the things that captivated me most about Survivor was seeing people forced outside of their comfort zone, testing personal limits, building new experiences and all the while showcasing some of the most beautiful tropical destinations on Earth.”
Was there anything that you didn’t like from that time, and if so how do you reframe it?
“While my head may not have been in it for the manipulation, alliances and deception... I was all for the adventure (now if I could do it again... that might be a little different)!”
What do you remember most about being on Survivor, or from that time in your life?
“My experience in the show certainly had its ups and downs, moments of glory and defeat, joy and suffering... but an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment is what I remember the most. And it became a great early chapter in the book of life.”
For years fans searched for Jason Siska nudes that were thought to be leaked from filming, but no one ever found them.
“I had no idea! It may have all started because I noted in my bio back then that I had been a nude model for my university art department before the show.”
Jason, where did you go and what did you do after stepping away from being a contestant on Survivor in 2008.
“Immediately after the Survivor finale, I moved back to the Virgin Islands to begin my adult life. I quickly realized that I wanted to work within the water-sports industry... “boat captain” would become my profession. “Guiding” a way of life. Snorkeling, diving, exploring, venturing into the unknown. And the opportunity to share these adventures with visitors from around the world. A decade and a half later, I’m still at it.”
Is there a scenario where the Jason Siska the world knows returns to Survivor in 2024 or 2025?
“2024 is almost over, so no there. 2025 is almost here, and if casting directors wanted me to return, I would have heard something. And, 2026 is far too far away to plan!
But if they ever have a season with all the returning players WHO DIDN'T USE THEIR HIDDEN IMMUNITY IDOL, I’d be in for sure, LOL!”
What advice do you have for fans of Survivor, or anyone who knows you from television?
“Reality television is inspirational and a fun way to experience adventures vicariously, but to take life to the next level, I invite everyone to visit the island (St. John, USVI). Now that I run a charter boat here in the Virgin Islands, me and my crew customize trips to match our guests’ desires and skills.
